Coming into Halloween 2022, I started mindlessly sketching on my commute around the city. While I was trying to draw human characters, the bumps and rumbles kept jostling my hands. The characters started turning into these gnarly tree-zombie-skeletons.
After doing a little research I found that a dead tree is only called a log because it falls over. But when a tree dies and it stays standing, it’s called a snag. So I called my little druid army SNAGS, because they look dead, but are alive - and look alive, but are dead.
Just some sketches, iterations, and color studies inspired from shapes all over the city and the train.
